Shannon - 5.2.06

The Lord gave me what you would call a little victory yesterday. I went grocery shopping and skipped on past the ice cream, sweets, and snack foods. I instead spent my grocery $ on fruits and vegetables, and they're going to have to become my snacks, because that's all we have for snacking (besides trail mix). I figure this would be as good of motivation as any to eat healthy, if I don't have the junk food in the house! Today, Karis and I are walking, and it always helps when I go with her because she is a power walker for sure! I had already decided I was going to take a long walk as I was inspired by Alicia, yesterday! However, I'm thankful to have a friend to go with to keep me motivated today. I have several goals I'm working towards. I want to lose 5 lbs in the next two and half weeks, and it's not coming off! Pray that I'll work hard these next few weeks to accomplish my goal with the Lord's help!

Glad I could inspire you dear! It's a good excuse to get our babies outside too. How did your power-walk go? Did you bring Esther along with?

Totally agree with you - I also make my own trail mix so I have a healthy snack during the day. I usually do celery sticks or raisins too. Do you make smoothies? I am a smoothie fanatic. They're filling and vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvery healthy for your bod.

Hear, hear on those stupid ole 5 pounds that won't go away. grrrrrrr . . . . . this means war!!!!!!!

Okay, I have been reading this blog off and on for a little while now and you all are making me feel extremely guilty and fat! Actually I have felt this way for a while. I wish I had the motivation to eat right and get my lazy butt up to work out. For whatever reason, in the back of my head, I am always thinking "I can't do it. I don't have the discipline." I have never really had a weight problem, I was actually teased for being too skinny as a kid. But that has certainly changed in the last few years. Anyhow, I need to run (I mean go, I hate running)

Alicia -
The power walk went great. We did it for an hour. I even got a blister to prove it! :) We were able to go in our neighborhood since we're having wonderful weather and it provided some inclines that helped. Us three moms (sounds like a tv show, huh?) went to a park today and went for 45 minutes. I really need to work more on toning. I did a workout video this week, but need to feel it more it my flabby abs. :) and yes, I lovvvve smoothies. :)

Kelly, the accountability has been good on this blog. Good for you that you've never had a weight problem! I have always battled staying trim. I had just got it under control before I got pregnant, and now I got more pounds to shed. If I could give any advice, be in as great of shape as you can b.k. (before kids!)

I do want in for the accountability, but yet I am afraid I won't accomplish anything. I don't know why I feel so inadequate in this area. I can only imagine how difficult it can be to be so painfully honest about your lack of discipline.

Keep it up, Shannon! Those really victories count so much! We have to keep making right choices and we'll keep seeing little victories. Sorry I missed your call tonight. I think we were getting Luke ready for bed. Will call on Monday.
